The anticipated rising demand for shortenings in China creates openings for the Malaysian palm oil players to export more RBD palm oil to the shortenings manufacturers in China. To capture the opportunity of exporting shortenings directly to China’s users, the subsidiary companies of the Malaysian palm oil industry players that are located in Indonesia offer higher opportunity. This is because many ranges of shortenings produced in Malaysia generally are not competitively priced if compared with their Indonesian counterparts. Except for Wilmar, we have thus far not heard of Malaysian subsidiaries in Indonesia having shortening plant. |
