Malaysia Accounted for Bigger Share on China Palm Oil Import for Second Consecutive Month in October 2016

Total import of three major vegetable oils in Sep 2016 was at 554,393 MT, a 24.98% decrease from last year. Among these, import volume of palm oil shows continued recovery on month-to-month basis (up by19.23%) to reach 480,786 MT in September 2016, which is also its fourth consecutive month of increase. However, this volume is still 15.44% or 87,799 MT lower compared to same period last year. Malaysia exported 275,237 MT of palm oil to China which increased by 27.82%, while Indonesia exported 205,543 MT to China which surprisingly dropped by 41.81% compared to last year. Interestingly, this is the first month in 2016 when MPO exports exceeded last year’s figures for the same period. |
