Country profile: UKRAINE. Economics highlights and market updates as of 2015
by Aleksey Udovenko
Ukraine is a country with a strong Agricultural sector, which takes more than 50% share in exports, which in its turn contributes 50% to the GDP of the country. Ukraine is among the top world producers of oilseeds and the leading exporter of sunflower oil (together with Russia they account for 70% of the total world output of sunflower, as of 2014). But despite this fact the country also imports other types of oils, where palm oil has an 80% share among other imported oils to Ukraine.

Ukraine has traditionally has a well-established infrastructure in terms of palm oil deliveries to the CIS countries. Russia was one of the main destinations for palm oil re-exports. However, the political tensions resulted in the alteration in the re-exports scheme.
